Career Outlook
Primary Duties of a Medical Assistant Include:
- Taking patient histories and vital signs (blood pressure, etc.)
- Entering data into patient records
- Handling administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and calling in referrals
- Keeping supply inventories in treatment rooms and the office stocked
- Gathering blood or other samples and preparing them for laboratory tests
- Assisting doctors or nurses during examinations
- Administering basic clinical tasks, such as cleaning and dressing wounds
