Coming off Mother's Day, this week America celebrates National Women's Health Week.
The goal is simple - to empower women to make their health a priority.
Whether pursuing a health care degree program in something like nursing or respiratory therapy or juggling family and work responsibilities, it's seemingly easy for the commitment to personal health to take a backseat.
The great thing about this week is that, no matter whether you're a woman on a personal journey for wellness or have a passion to be part of America's next generation of health care professionals, everyone has a woman in their life that needs a little encouragement, motivation, and space to be the best version of herself.
This week, we're hoping to educate, inspire and celebrate the ways that women around the world have taken control of their health. (If you haven't already, check out our social communities!)
A woman who exercises 30 minutes a day can lower her risk of dying early by 27 percent compared with someone who exercises just 30 minutes once a week. That's just 2 percent of your day!
Take a look at this infographic, published by the Department of Health and Human Services with more tidbits about fitness' effect on women.
In addition to exercise, take note of the suggestions around well-woman exams. Don't wait until there a reason to go. Preventative care and regular screenings are key to early detection and working with your health care professional to devise a plan to keep you feeling your best.
At Concorde, we know that we prepare you to take care of others, but we want you to be as equally invested in your longevity.
We want to know: How do you get your exercise in on a daily basis? A program, a class, an open road and an iPod full of songs?
