North Hollywood Surgical Technology Program Director

LaToya J. Rush, CST

I became a Surgical Technologist (ST) while in the Navy. I was working with Ophthalmologists in the clinic who asked me if I would like to accompany them in the OR on their surgery days. The first day was the most challenging day I had experienced and I knew immediately I wanted to experience it again, so I began my schooling in ST a short while afterwards.

Working as a Surgical Tech in the Navy offered a vast amount of exposure to different patient care environments- from the O.R. to Ship to the Field.

Integrity and Accountability should be your top priority as a Surgical Tech. These two traits contribute to not only your success in the program, but how you will render patient care in the field…it will also keep you employed.

My colleagues and the students motivate me to bring my best to Concorde every day. The students I have encountered from all programs are very courteous and respectful. The entire student body is a reflection of the staff, which makes the environment enjoyable even on the most challenging days.
